D&D Travel and Hartford Blooms Present Park Place Towers and Historic Columbia Street...

As part of Mike McGarry's Hartford Blooms 2015, we present a tour of the lush gardens at Park Place Towers and the historical homes of Columbia Street, photographed in June by D&D Travel's Dennis A. Hubbs...Please enjoy!

At Hartford's Park Place Towers, just off Laurel Street and nearby the Knox Parks Foundation and greenhouses, lies a "secret" garden with a multi-level pond, spillways and lush foliage. The feeling is that of a southern US garden and one almost expects hanging moss around the next corner! A paved pathway surrounds the entire area, open during the Hartford Blooms festival...

As the sign says - this is Columbia Street - part of the George Keller Historic District, with its Queen Anne style row homes built between 1888 - 1889. The houses are well-kept, with lovely gardens in front of many...Surely this area is one of Hartford's true gems!

Thanks for your visit...We hope these images will inspire you to take a look around the area and enjoy the gardens and architecture in the city!
